We've had over eight inches of snow so far and winter hasn't started yet. It rained yesterday so that helped melt all the snow from the last snowfall.
In preparation for the next snowfall, I bought 200 pounds of rock salt to melt the snow and ice on our driveway. Without it, our steep driveway can become an icy luge of doom. I also added another snow shovel to our growing fleet of shovels.
I've been looking at the household electrical wiring around the furnace and water heater to determine how to rewire them to work off of our generator. I believe I've sorted it out but want to pass the idea by some qualified people before doing anything about it.
During my lunch break today I picked up a few 550 lumen Defiant flashlights (with a Cree XM-L LED) that run on three C cells at Home Depot. The flashlight is the brightest light that I own. It's like having an automobile headlight in your hand.
