The coronavirus COVID-19 is affecting 199 countries and territories around the world and 1 international conveyance (the Diamond Princess cruise ship harbored in Yokohama, Japan).

As of March 27, 2020 at 01:20 GMT, there have been 85377 confirmed cases and 1295 deaths due to coronavirus COVID-19 in the United States.

Hospitals in U.S. pandemic epicenters have passed a tipping point in the fight against the new coronavirus as the relentless climb in infections forces some to move patients to outlying facilities, divert ambulances and store bodies in a refrigerated truck.

New York, home to the nation’s largest outbreak of Covid-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus, is rushing to build a temporary hospital in a Manhattan conference center in the hope of staying ahead of the fast-spreading disease.

Hospitals in parts of New York City have become so full of critically ill patients that they have steered ambulances elsewhere. The full-to-capacity morgue at Elmhurst Hospital in Queens is using a refrigerated truck to hold some of the dead. Thirteen people died in the hospital in the last 24 hours, said NYC Health + Hospitals, which operates Elmhurst.

New Jersey’s total known cases of the coronavirus increased to at least 6,876, including at least 81 known deaths, as officials announced another 2,492 new positive test results Thursday — by far the state’s largest single-day increase since the outbreak.

“Sadly the number of lost lives is going up,” Gov. Phil Murphy said at the Trenton War Memorial during the latest coronavirus press briefing. “That’s partly due to some community spread.”

Murphy announced 19 new deaths from coronavirus — four in Essex County, three in Bergen, three in Middlesex, two in Burlington, two in Monmouth, two in Morris and one each in Ocean, Passaic and Somerset counties. Three of those deaths were from longterm care facilities.

Sandy -2, Saturday, October 27, 2012

Saturday, October 27, 2012 Superstorm Sandy -2 I started out the day attending a meeting of local OEM (Office of Emergency Management) officials at our county Emergency Operations Center.  The general consensus was that the hurricane was going to seriously impact our area. The rest of the day was spent in preparation for hurricane Sandy to strike the area sometime Monday. I spent some time filling up a 55 gallon water drum and many 5 gallon water cans with a mixture of water and chlorine.  When you mix the proper amount of water and chlorine (from unscented chlorine bleach) your water will store longer without growing any unwanted critters in it. I also went out and filled the three five gallon fuel cans that I have with premium gasoline for my gas powered 4000 watt generator.  After I picked up the fuel, my son and I moved the generator out of the garage and rolled it around the back of the house and placed it on our back deck along with the full fuel cans.  I covered the gene
